About RACDC
Anderson Chapel A.M.E. Church established Richard Allen Community Development Corporation (RACDC) on January 8, 2001. It is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit corporation to address the community development needs of the economically disadvantaged in the underprivileged areas of Killeen. Establishing a non-profit corporation gives the church the ability to expand the types of services it has traditionally provided community residents. The mission of the Richard Allen Community Development Corporation is to promote dignity, instill hope, and develop people and places, and improve our community.
RACDC supports the community year-round through its two Hamilton-Manjang Mission Houses. The Hamilton-Manjang Mission Houses were established by the Women’s Missionary Society to provide food and clothing to all people in need in 1995. The first Mission House was located in a small building behind Anderson Chapel. In 2004, Reverend Dr. William M. Campbell, Jr., envisioned a better location with more room to function and serve the community. The property located at 1102 Jefferies Ave was purchased for the new location of the Mission House. They moved to the new location in August 2004 and Mission House 1 was dedicated February 5, 2005, by Tenth Episcopal District Supervisor Rev. Dr. Jessica Kendall Ingram, and Mission House 2 was dedicated February 26, 2012, by Bishop Gregory G. M. Ingram, Presiding Prelate, Tenth Episcopal District. The Mission House is a Service Ministry to the community and surrounding areas, so therefore we fall under the guidelines of the Richard Allen Community Development Corporation. Mission House operates and is staffed by 17 dedicated volunteers.
Each month Mission Houses service from 250-325 families also we provide over 10,000 meals per month. Our food pantry can provide meals for the homeless who may not have access to cooking. Mission House 1 assist with clothing and shoes for men, women, and children. We also have available prepackaged hygiene bags. Mission House works with other agencies and churches throughout the city to assist those with extreme concerns.
